Academic Resources

We provide scholarships to students to purchase textbooks and other school supplies. We also hold SHPE Under the SEAS, which is a meet-and-greet style event where students can meet their faculty and get to know what they’re working on.

Community Outreach

We host Noche de Ciencias, a philanthropy event dedicated to introducing underprivileged St. Louis middle/high school students to STEM majors and careers, local scholarship opportunities, and the college admissions process.

Chapter Development

We hold meetings and community enrichment events to interact with our members, engage in team-building and professional development activities, and promote cultural awareness. Some of the events we hold include resume/interview workshops, alumni/industry speakers and panels, networking events both small and large, and the Annual National SHPE Conference.

Leadership Development

We encourage all our members to run for executive positions including first-year and transfer students (there’s always 1-4 open positions for incoming students). We also have a mentorSHPE program dedicated to helping new students transition to WashU and learn more about themselves and what they intend to pursue academically and professionally.

Professional Development

Our most important event for chapter development and professional advancement is the SHPE National Conference. At the Conference, students partake in leadership training exercises and a ginormous career fair with hundreds of companies looking to hire diverse talent.
